The firm register is being published

Registered firms will be listed here as the secretariat publishes the firm register. Until then, check an individual architect's licence on the register, or contact RIA to confirm a firm's registration.

How firm registration works

A firm's registration and an individual's licence are separate. A licensed architect who forms a company does not thereby have a registered firm, and a registered firm whose responsible professional has let their licence lapse is not covered by that person's past registration.

District and disciplines shown Entries show the district, the disciplines the firm is registered to provide, and the project types it works on.
Business contact details Published for firms as a matter of course; personal contact details for individuals are not.

Choosing between firms

Fit matters more than size. A three-person practice that has designed twenty houses may serve a house better than a large firm whose work is commercial. What matters is whether they have done something like yours, who will actually do the work, and whether you can speak plainly to them. Approach two or three, and treat the first meeting as an interview rather than a sales pitch you are receiving.
