Which route applies to you?

RIA currently accepts new applications through these three routes. The secretariat will confirm your requirements during pre-consultation.

Professional intern Architecture graduates registering to begin their required supervised professional practice. Firm registration Local architectural firms with a named responsible professional who is licensed for the year. East African or international applicant Practitioners registered with a regulator outside Rwanda applying for visiting or project-based membership.

Professional intern — no application fee, annual fee RWF 100,000.

Before you begin

Pre-consultation comes first

The secretariat reviews your documents before you pay. Most delays are missing documents, not slow decisions.

Applications are considered in sittings

Files are assessed by the Board of Registration at its sittings. An incomplete application usually waits for the next sitting.
